Cuklanz, Lisa M. Rape on Primetime: Television, Masculinity, and Sexual Violence. Philadelphia: Pennsylvania UP, 2000.
I used this book as a reference to depict how women have been depicted on television in regards to violence acted upon them. Also how masculinity is demonstrated and acted upon women.

Hamlin, John. "List of Rape Myths." University of Minnesota Duluth 3 Mar.    2005. 11 Nov. 2007       <http://www.d.umn.edu/cla/faculty/jhamlin/3925/myths.html>.

I used this source to discuss what some of the rape myths are and how they are demonstrated in the show Heroes.
Heroes. By Tim Kring. Perf. Jack Coleman, Ali Larter, and Hayden Panettire etc... 23 episodes. NBC. Universal City, CA. 18 Sept- 5 May 2007.
This is my primary source for examples about Claire and Jessica/Niki. Most of my examples of both women come from the first five episodes of season one.
"Idaho Statutes: Title 18: Crimes and Punishments; Chapter 61: Rape."       State of Idaho 13 Oct. 2007 <http://www3.state.id.us/cgi-bin/newidst?  sctid=180610001.K>.
I use this source in a comparison with California law to talk about laws concerning rape and how it is defined. Also I use this source to illustrate the conservative nature of how rape is defined and how it doesn't fit with today's issues concerning what rape is and how it should be punished. When cited in my paper it will be referred to as I.C.9-350.
Renynolds, Morgan O. “Crime and Punishment in America: 1999.” National Center for Policy Analysis 229 (1999): 1-35.
This report talks about conviction rates for sexual assaults and rapes. Also it talks about reforms that need to be addressed in regards to state laws and the procedures in prosecuting such crimes as rape and sexual assault.
"Statistics: Rape, Abuse & Incest." Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network (RAINN). 2006. 19 Nov. 2007     <http://www.rainn.org/statistics/index.html?gclid=CPOCvujvo5ACFSZuYAodd1LOxA>.
I use this website for statistics such as how often does a sexual assault occur in the United States. Also I used it for rape conviction statistics.
“What is the California Law Regarding Rape?” Santa Clara University (2004) 11 Nov. 2007 < http://www.scu.edu/wellness/What-is-the-Ca-law-regarding-rape.cfm>.
This source is used for a comparison against Idaho law as a good example of what a good rape law should entail. Throughout my paper it will be referred to as (CalSec261).
